I'm A Muslim and I Love the Festive Period!

One Voice Blackburn has produced their latest video on how Muslims enjoy the festive season.

The project ‘I’m a Muslim and I love the festive period’ was produced earlier this month and launched this week as a community cohesion initiative.

It is the fifth video of its kind produced by One Voice since 2016. There was no video in 2020 due to covid-19 restrictions. The project is supporting local charity Secret Santa, where it was also filmed, in raising funds to distribute gifts to disadvantaged young people in the town.

The video features members of the Blackburn community where they reveal what they like about Christmas and the new year.

“I’m a Muslim and I enjoy the festive period because I love the lights that go on around town. The festive period is the best,” says 11 year old Halima Sadia Munshi.

One Voice Blackburn is a charity that aspires to create cohesive, aspirational and confident communities in Blackburn with Darwen. The organisation also runs a project called ‘I’m not a Muslim but I will fast for one day.”

One Voice CEO Zaffer Khan said: “This is a magical time of year for a lot of people irrespective of their faith. We wanted to demonstrate how we all make plans for the festive season from family gatherings, to simply enjoying the post-Christmas sales.”
