West End Girls (WEGs)

West End Girls (WEGs) was  launched in 2014.

The WEGs are a group of 10 to 17 year olds from Blackburn and Darwen. The group’s the aim to develop leadership skills and provide the space for them to grow and thrive. The girls inspire and motivate each other, creating a positive and affirming atmosphere while also giving back to their communities. WEGs aims to improve the girl’s character, sef confidence and motivation. The group also plan campaigns on a range of social issues.

The WEGs support the local civic engagements in the town, and volunteer to support many of the junior groups within One Voice Blackburn. Activities include; public speaking, a book club, debating society, media opportunities (including 1VTV) outdoor excursions, travel and we also run a sports section – WEGs ProActive.

Sessions take place at Bangor St Community Centre and Blackburn Youth Zone.
