One Voice Blackburn once again brought the community together in warmth and unity with its annual Afternoon Tea at Samlesbury Hall, a much-loved community cohesion event celebrating diversity and connection across Blackburn with Darwen.

Nearly 100 guests attended the gathering, which was hosted by One Voice Blackburn’s youth leadership group – 2020 Vision. Attendees included the Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, One Voice members, and members of the general public. The event featured tea, coffee, homemade soup, sandwiches, and cakes, served in the historic surroundings of Samlesbury Hall, creating the perfect autumnal setting for conversation and community spirit.

“Our Afternoon Tea is about more than refreshments — it’s about relationships and unity,” said a One Voice Blackburn spokesperson. “Seeing our young leaders from 2020 Vision take charge of this event reflects the charity’s commitment to youth empowerment and long-term community cohesion.”

Since its inception in 2016, the One Voice Blackburn Afternoon Tea has become a highlight in the local calendar, promoting diversity, inclusion, and social harmony. Each year, the event provides a welcoming space for people from all walks of life to connect and celebrate the positive impact of community initiatives across the borough.

Attendees praised both the atmosphere and organisation:

“I had a remarkable afternoon at the Afternoon Tea. The organisation was phenomenal, as was the food. Most of all, I was glad to be part of such a diverse group, and loved the social element of it,” said Zaheeda Yousuf, attendee.

“What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. One Voice Blackburn are just the most amazing organisation — the work they do never fails to amaze me,” added Jenny Savage.

“It was an absolute pleasure to attend the Afternoon Tea at Samlesbury Hall on Sunday. The atmosphere in the hall set the autumnal scene, with the fire roaring and a real sense of warmth and community throughout the day. It was a great opportunity to meet new people and hear about all the incredible work being done across their organisations. And of course, the afternoon was made even better by the delicious food. One Voice are great at doing events that bring the community and different organisations together,” said Alex Newman.

This Blackburn community event once again demonstrated how One Voice Blackburn continues to lead the way in promoting inclusion, equality, and collaboration across local communities.
