80s Theme for Awards Dinner

One Voice Blackburn has announced its theme for the 1V Awards Dinner 2024. We are going Back to 1984.

The 1V Awards Dinner 2024 – Back to 1984 – will take place on 17 February 2024. Nominations for the 1V Awards close on 17 November 2023. This is the 11th Awards Dinner organised by the charity, taking place in Blackburn’s King George’s Hall. The event is sponsored by Together Housing and Newground Together, and supported by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.

As well as the announcement of eight awards there will also be music, performances, videos, interviews and One Voice Blackburn will showcase some of their cohesion and health projects throughout the two-hour event.

Young people will be centre stage once again as four teenagers host the Dinner which has become one of the most prestigious events in Blackburn’s social calendar. Each year there is a theme and this year will be no different.

The 1V Awards Manager Sundas Bakhat said, “It’s always a massive talking point in the town about the theme, and we are really excited to announce that we go back to such an iconic decade, and more specifically 1984. I wasn’t born then but I wish I was around in the 80s having conducted all the research and ideas for the event. It was such an exciting time with the music, clothes and film. I am sure all our guests will enjoy the evening celebrating 1984.”

The 1V Awards Dinner will also feature a Club Tropicana drinks reception, supported by Reel Cinema.

One Voice Blackburn will also be releasing their new video celebrating the best of the town, following the success of We Love Blackburn earlier in this year. The six-minute video will be premiered and launched at the 1V Awards Dinner.
