Eid Mubarak from One Voice Blackburn

Eid is a special time of the year and this year One Voice Blackburn sought out to do something special to celebrate.

Eid Al Fitr marks the end of a month of fasting from dawn to sunset, as well as spiritual reflection and prayer.

One Voice Blackburn’s Eid Campaign 2024 set out to highlight the various gatherings and celebrations that represent Eid. A total of five set ups were created that showcased how different cultures observe the Islamic holiday.

The images will be visible on bus stops and digital screens around the town in the lead up to Eid, spreading joy and togetherness.

Eid al-Fitr is a time of visits, when friends greet one another, presents are given, new clothes are worn, and prayers are performed.

The Eid traditions begin on the night before Eid on Chand Raat. Friends and family come together for a night of good company and beautiful henna designs. Food gatherings are also a core element of Eid.

People gather with family and neighbours in traditional clothing and have a special meal.

Noureddin Alasgher who’s family were involved in the campaign says there is one thing to look forward to on Eid.

“Eid is one of the rare occasions where the entire extended family comes together to enjoy some delicious food prepared by the whole family. Sitting together and chatting whilst enjoying some traditional cuisines is the perfect way to celebrate. I’m glad myself and my family could be part of a campaign that spreads such joy and happiness.”

The campaign is running on One Voice Blackburn’s social media platforms, bus stops and digital screens in Blackburn. One Voice Blackburn is committed to community cohesion and works on a range of campaigns during Eid and Christmas.
