LEADERSHIP

Our trustees are the backbone of the organisation. They were all raised in Blackburn, and still live in Blackburn. They form part of our senior leadership team wishing to give back to the communities where they came from.

Building the aspirations of our young people and women is a key focus of One Voice Blackburn’s work. We give our members the opportunity to lead on group activities, to become volunteers and take on coaching roles within our organisation. We support girls and young women to become female sports coaches and gain accreditations in sports leadership. We also offer our young people the opportunity to gain accreditations through our arts and heritage projects which they would not be able to access through school.

Our 2020 Vision group offer our young members the opportunity to develop their leadership skills further and deliver social action programmes tackling issues that are important to them as young people growing up in Blackburn with Darwen. They also lead on our events with planning and execution. The 2020 Vision also look after our events, and holiday programmes.

The 1V Scouts have a specific leadership programme which instils the confidence and ability to lead the programmes for young people from the age of 5. The strength of 1V Scouts are the volunteers, and the leaders within the group.

In fact, all of our groups create leaders, from the Gentlemen’s Club to the West end Girls (WEGs).
