One Voice Blackburn is a charity that aspires to create cohesive, aspirational and confident communities in Blackburn with Darwen. It is a charity that is respected across the town especially working with marginalised communities.
Our Aims
Sums & Palindromes aims to improve the learning and understanding of each subject through co-ordinated tuition over a period of time lasting no less than 12 months.
The tutoring sessions are designed to increase confidence in the subject through developing techniques to achieve a successful outcome for each student.
Age Groups
Initially we will be working with the following school age groups:
- Year 5
- Year 6
- Year 9
- Year 10
Subjects
English & Maths
Science (for years 9 and 10)
Our Structure
1 fully qualified teacher is assigned to a maximum of 5 children(in some cases we will start with 1 fully qualified teacher to 3 children)

Timings
Saturday and Sunday afternoons
1 class per subject. At least one hour of study per week.
We will operate over 40 weeks across the calendar year.
The Teachers
The teachers at Sums & Palindromes will be qualified to Degree level, and have a PGCE or additional post degree qualification.
The teachers will also have at least 2 years teaching experience in a school setting.
