Winners Sparkle in Awards Ceremony
An Awards Dinner celebrated the very best of Blackburn as volunteers and charities walked away with the top prizes in a stunning ceremony in King George’s Hall.

A newly appointed chief executive will be presenting a prestigious community award next month.

14 is the Magic Number for Hosts at 1V Awards Dinner
A group of 14 year-olds will be hosting one of the largest community events in Blackburn in 2023. The 1V Awards Dinner will take place in King George’s Hall on 25 February.
They will be joined by a 13 year-old boy in the youngest line-up for the biggest community awards event in Blackburn, hosted by the charity One Voice Blackburn.
Alisha Seedat, Aleeza Isa, Maya Khalid and Bilal Hussain will be representing the various youth groups run by One Voice Blackburn.
The charity allows a young person to host the celebration, and the 2023 Awards Dinner will be the 10th event of its kind.

Awards Start Reaches Fever Pitch
The nominations process for the 1V Awards Dinner 2023 has been launched.
The 1V Awards Dinner, sponsored by Together Housing Association and Newground Together, will take place on 25th February 2023 at King George’s Hall, Blackburn. The Awards are run by charity One Voice Blackburn.
The 1V Awards have become the most prestigious community accolades in the town, celebrating the success of volunteers, community groups, charities and local people.
Individuals and groups can enter multiple categories, and entries can be submitted on behalf of nominees or themselves. The organisers have requested those sending nominations to include as much information as possible within the word-limit which is 200 words.
The last 1V Awards Dinner took place in October 2021 following a break of 18 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
One Voice Blackburn is a charity that aspires to create cohesive, aspirational and confident communities in Blackburn with Darwen. It was set up in 2011 and won the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2018.
The 1V Awards Dinner was first held in 2013. This will be the 10th awards dinner held by the charity which also carries out community engagement work, consultation and events.
There will be seven awards presented on the evening of the 1V Awards Dinner. The following awards will have nominations: the Aya Hachem Young Person of the Year sponsored by Blackburn College; Group of the Year sponsored by Blackburn Youth Zone,; 1V Man of the Year sponsored by Reel Cinema Blackburn; 1V Woman of the Year sponsored by Lancashire Mind, The 1V Health Award sponsored by Spring North.
The John Roberts Outstanding Achievement Award, sponsored by Let’s Foster and the Leader’s Award, sponsored by Blackburn with Darwen Council, are selected by the trustees of One Voice Blackburn.
The event will also feature key-note speeches and celebrate the work of One Voice Blackburn. The event is themed ‘Saturday Night Fever’.
Together Housing Association and Newground Together are headline sponsors of the 1V Awards Dinner.

Together Housing Association & Newground Together, both based in Blackburn, have previously been involved with the dinner and awards hosted by One Voice Blackburn.

The event comprises of work celebrated by the charity, key note speakers, the 1V Awards, entertainment and concludes with a three-course meal. The 1V Awards Dinner is regarded as the largest and most prestigious community gathering in Blackburn with Darwen.
The 1V Awards Dinner was last held in October 2021 after numerous COVID-19 interruptions and was described as ‘breath-taking’ and ‘highly emotional’.
