HEALTH

One Voice Blackburn delivers a programme of activities which raise awareness of health inequalities faced by our community and tackle key issues that particularly affect our ethnic minority residents through co-produced campaigns and engagement activities. Our health programme, ‘Baiter Sehat’ (Better Health) was awarded the Excellence in Health Award by the Department of Health in 2014 for its engagement of communities in improving their own health and wellbeing.

Current projects focus on raising awareness of organ donation amongst South Asian Muslim members of our community; raising awareness of dementia in the community by encouraging thousands of residents to volunteer as Dementia Friends and Champions and tackling the root cause of Type 2 diabetes by promoting healthy lifestyles through young people.

One Voice Blackburn’s Baiter Sehat programme also promotes the uptake of Vitamin D and C among the South Asian community. The organisation is also conducting blood pressure checks in Lancashire as part of a programme with Spring North.
